I have to admit I am more of a Fall-Winter kind of person, but this Summer, I’m trying to make the best out of it. I’ve always loved how a good mini denim skirt can look, but I feel like I never even tried to style it correctly. In the past, I blamed my body or my “straight sausage legs,” which I know sometimes can be very mean to me, but the point is I’m now wearing that super cute mini skirt I always wanted. So, a mix of trying self-love and challenging my Summer outfits, I decided to write about the all-time classic mini denim skirt.
Now, let’s jump to my finds and see if you like any of these super cool goodies I put together for you.
Dark denim mini skirt
Abercrombie is a very safe brand to look for a good denim skirt, so that was my first find, and I got this dark color, which I love to contrast with a crisp white t-shirt. And, when the outfit looks a bit flat, I like to add dimensions like a blazer or a sweater on my shoulders, as I did in the photo. This one has stripes, making it a bit more interesting. Also, I never miss the opportunity to wear my chunky loafers, which don’t have to be super expensive. By the way, I’m adding mine here. If you are interested, they aren’t only affordable but incredibly comfortable.
I tried this skirt with a black sweatshirt to have that casual but chic kind of look, but I actually didn’t love it. I saw some references on Pinterest, and I think this need this kind of dark skirt with a black top needs some sparkle. Then, I went to sites like Etsy to see how I could make this outfit amazing and look at my animated mock-up below. I think this outfit has street style / New York fashion week potential with a beaded see-through skirt? What do you think?
Also, let’s talk about this denim skirt crossover trend! I think it’s so much fun, and I’ve been seeing it on pants too. Sharing some of my dark denim skirts below. Let me know if you try any of these!
Light blue mini denim skirt
Now, the classic blue denim mini skirt can be worn endlessly this Summer, and actually, it would also be an excellent transition piece, where you layer up with a cute blazer and chunky sweaters, but it is still not cold enough, and you can show off your legs.
I already tried this with a white linen shirt and added a little neck scarf detail to make it look more put together and not just like a boring skirt and shirt outfit.
I also tried this skirt with a low heel and this cool boxed bag, but if I could go back, I think I would add a sweater on my shoulders or just a little something else. I haven’t tried the skirt with sneakers, but I think it would look super cute styling it with a cute light sweater or blazer for that young professional look.
White mini denim skirt
I ordered this off white denim skirt from H&M, and I can’t wait to style it with something silver and sparkly. I think it’s an amazing combo for the Ibiza beach kind of vibes. I would also be wearing a heather gray t-shirt, either oversized or that cool padded shoulder style. With shoes, I’m not sure yet, but trying to find a pair of great nude sandals that can keep that light beach vibe. I’m thinking maybe flat sandals but strappy with a feminine touch.
What do you think of these finds? I need to find that perfect sparkly silver top, or I’m at risk of doing it myself with some old fabric.
Cool mini denim skirt
A brand like All Saints doesn’t disappoint when it comes to cool denim skirts, and I had to share this one below with other cool denim skirts I found. This first one, in particular, has that flare that perfectly contrasts feminine and edgy. I would wear it with my coolest combat boots and cool sweatshirt. I think this might be one of my transition pieces for this coming Fall.
Also, I keep seeing this mixed fabrics trend, which I love, but it can get tricky when you get a piece you love but are not sure how to style, so I think if I got a mixed denim blue fabrics skirt like that, I would look for lots of references or try everything in my closet with it before going out with it. I’m already thinking of going extremes, like going super street style with a white t-shirt with letters on it and bright yellow boots and a jacket. Or probably more me, I would be keeping the rest neutral but with dimension because I wouldn’t want to assume that the skirt can carry the whole outfit just for being different if that makes sense? Or do I sound crazy? Do I? Okay, moving on!
Crossover jeans
I couldn’t share this trend on skirts and not in jeans. I think it started with the denim skirt and now with jeans too, and I can’t decide which ones I want to include in my wardrobe. I’m thinking of a straight-leg style to keep it super versatile, meaning I could dress it up or down. I found the first pair at ASOS, but I’m always skeptical about the fit. If I end up ordering them, I will show you guys on Instagram a “what I order vs. what I’ve got” kind of reel.
This post was all about the super trendy mini denim skirt for this Summer and as a classic piece in our wardrobe. Also, some super cool interesting finds that I would love to know if you try any of these. It would make me super happy to see what you think if you recommend them and if you have any questions or comments.
