I created this cool post exclusively for us black clothes lovers. I feel we shouldn’t be ashamed to receive all those negative comments like “I wish I were as brave as you for wearing black with this heat” and “blah blah” We should be proud of what we like. And we can absolutely do that while looking incredibly chic, summery, and season-appropriate, all at the same time.
I love that the suggestions in this post it is also about checking what we have in our wardrobe first and forming all these outfits that would look great this summer, and then decide from there what are the items we are missing to complete those outfits and extra pieces that will totally elevate the looks. After that, getting to the fun part (my favorite part of course), going online shopping, and being all ready for the season. Also, most of the outfits are very mixed and matchy, so we are pretty much covered for our looks during the Summer, and then we can just add that statement piece we need to spice up our days or that summer dress we need for a special occasion.
Black dress
There’s an amazing way to make any black dress (unless it’s velvet or leather) automatically summery, and that is by adding a basket handbag. Also, the obvious wearing light sandals, sunglasses and walking straight with confidence (something I am working on, by the way), it’s one of those things we know. But, still, we forget about it, and I think it is something so simple, doesn’t cost money, and makes whatever we are wearing ten times better. Going back to the black dress during summer tip, we can also freshen up this black look by wearing white sandals and a white bag. Sounds obvious but believe me. I feel way more summer appropriate, looks super fresh and stylish.
Black linen fabric
Linen fabric is all about Summer, even in black, and the amazing thing is that not all of your outfit has to be linen to look summery. You could do so by wearing only your top or pants. For example, a black linen shirt would look amazing with a solid black midi skirt that you have from other seasons, and like this, you can repurpose it all year long. Another example is wearing a pair of black linen pants, and a cute little black crop top are insanely cool and feminine outfits.
Black and white
Wearing black and white is the easiest way to look timeless, you can’t really go wrong with that, and you are instantly justifying the black part with a super bright top or bottom. Also, when wearing an all black outfit, white accessories are an amazing way to freshen up the all-black look. And, of course, you can do this with off-white or ivory color, one of my favorite neutral colors.
Black and beige
Beige is my favorite neutral because it makes the whole neutral outfit more alive even though it’s a neutral itself. Beige straight leg pants are so chic right now, they look so sophisticated and you can get the same style in different fabrics, again wearing a linen option it will immediately look summery and even beach appropriate.
Black and blue denim
Black and blue denim is one of the most basic combinations and although it can get boring pretty fast, you can find ways to elevate this look and make it super stylish. I’ve observed that when I see some of my favorite influencers wear a simple black top and jeans outfit, they are making chic by adding a unique shape handbag, a hat or putting that extra effort on a great hair day. Also, I’ve seen outfits that look adorable with a light blue denim shirt and a black mini skirt or a midi light fabric black skirt.
Slit Skirt
A midi skirt with a slit it’s one of those items that is incredibly sexy and cute at the same time. A midi or maxi black skirt with a long slit will automatically make your outfit breezy, summery and even beach appropiate. Because you are letting that leg skin show you can even wear it with a nice collar shirt, half-opened and tied on the waist. I absolutely love this look for summer, it doesn’t show a lot of skin but it’s super breezy, looks effortlessly stylish and it’s amazing for going for lunch and then to a pool day or beach day right after.
Cutouts
Cutouts can’t only look super modern and chic, but they have that breeze feel that justifies a black top or dress during Summer. This year I’ve seen a lot of bottoms with cutouts on the waist, and they look absolutely adorable. Attaching some of my great finds now.
This post was all about how can we wear black clothes during summer without looking out of season and entirely summer chic. I love that these tips are for a lot of mix and match situations, we can wear a lot of items that we already have in our wardrobe and repurpose them for a lot of cute summer outfits. By first selecting all the pieces that would work pretty well for our summer outfits, we can then see what investment pieces we need and do a little online shopping. There are so many cute items we can invest in, and consider them the gems for this season, like one of the adorable basket bags shown above or a super unique shaped handbag.
I’m linking my favorite unique pieces I would love to invest in for this summer’s outfits.
Chunky slides are not only super easy and comfortable, but I love how trendy they are right now, and as always, I’m sharing my finds here. Although I have to admit, I already have all neutral versions, beige, white, and black, and I’m finding it hard to resist getting one more pair.
This post was all about wearing black outfits during the Summer season but stay in touch to read the Fall and Winter versions, which are my absolute favorite fashion seasons, for fashion and holidays.
