I think we all have that excitement when going somewhere new or just getting out of town for a few days. Whether it is for fun or work, we all prepare our outfits, and we get so caught up in the “during the trip” plan that we forget our airport outfit. Well, I came up with some super easy and cute airport outfits that will give us that stylish look all the way from point a to point b.
All these airport outfit options are based on what I would genuinely wear if I was traveling to a particular place or depending on the reason for traveling. I hope you find inspiration for that airport outfit you are looking for!

The all time comfortable leggings airport outfit
This sounds extremely obvious and easy to put together, but here are some tips that work for me when going for this airport outfit choice. Number 1. Fabric, this is not only about going for your newest leggings but also considering the thickness of the material. I think about all the people who sit on that seat that I’m going to be sitting for hours, and it makes me itch just thinking about it. I want to be comfortable and not think about my skin when traveling.
Number 2. I don’t want to wear just leggings and call it a day. I like to think about how I will style this airport outfit in a way that still looks cool, even when going for an effortless look. For example, going for accessories like a hat, a cool crossbody bag, the cleanest sneakers in my wardrobe, and just forming the outfit ideally before the day I’m traveling so I know for sure I will look my best with this airport outfit option.
The casually chic jeans airport outfit
If I wear jeans for traveling, I want to ensure they are not too tight because I obviously want to be comfortable. Wearing jeans is a great option when thinking about one of my points above, like my skin sitting for too long in places where lots of people sit, spill, and such. When wearing jeans, I love going for a chic yet comfortable look, like maybe wearing my most comfortable loafers instead of sneakers. I know sneakers are the obvious choice, but I love adopting that french look, looking effortless but with a bit of elegance? Like not in a flashy way, but hopefully sophisticated and smartish? The “I’m going to a meeting right after this” look
If I were traveling for work, I would wear dressy yet comfortable pants, like high waisted with front pleats and a bit on the oversized side. I think Felicia Akerstrom would be my inspiration when looking for an effortless, elegant yet young outfit. I would style the pants with loafers, flats, or even sneakers to create contrast; depending on the season, a nice light sweater and coat, or a t-shirt and blazer or sweater on shoulders to take on and off.
The comfy dress because “I’m going right to the beach bar after this.”
If going somewhere breezy like the beach right after the flight, I would up for a midi dress, and again I wouldn’t wear a mini in the airplane because of all the bacteria on those seats. I sound like a germophobic, but I’m not. Okay, maybe, but I just don’t want my skin to get a rash, so just in case. A one piece makes things easier when styling an airport outfit, especially if you leave it for the last minute. I always wear a sweater on my shoulders because I know I’ll get cold on the plane, a nice wide basket bag, and depending on the dress, maybe light sneakers.
The sweatshirt set airport outfit
Who doesn’t love a good sweatshirt set for an airport outfit? Although, I have to admit whenever I wear something that looks too loungewear, makes me a bit uncomfortable, like going grocery shopping in pajamas, it’s never been for me, but that’s just my personal opinion. So, suppose I’m going to wear a sweatshirt set as an airport outfit. I’ll make sure I have a simple but cute t-shirt under that I can show off whenever I get too warm.
Also, I want to make sure I wear nice but minimalist jewelry cause that instantly gives me that feeling that the outfit is not that lazy looking. Finally, nice sharp sneakers and sunglasses! Even if I’m not actually wearing the sunglasses, they could be on my head or clipped on my neckline; they give that sense of going somewhere other than my sofa. By the way, I think this is a perfect airport outfit when traveling with kids.
The Parisian traveler airport outfit
If I was traveling to Europe, I wanted to go for that effortless french look, depending on the season. So, for Spring – Summer, I would wear a loose white collar shirt tucked in with straight leg jeans, maybe above ankle length, and loafers or short block heel shoes if you want to elevate it and don’t mind wearing a bit of heel, and lastly a messager style bag. For a more Fall – Winter airport outfit, I would wear the same high waisted, straight-leg, above ankle jeans, but with booties that are high enough to cover your ankles, a cozy chunky sweater, with the same adorable messager bag.
Airport outfit when traveling with kids
For this one, I won’t say what specific airport outfit I would wear, a comfortable one, of course, but I would say some things I would consider based on my experience. Number 1. I would consider packing some extra leggings, undies, and a tank top, a whole outfit! Haha Like; basically, I almost need my own diaper bag. Okay, maybe not because I don’t want to carry another bag on top of everything, but I would make a little room in that big carry-on backpack for those items, leggings, undies, and tank top.
Kids spill things on you, or I spill things because I’m tired and shaky for barely making it to the flight. On one of our flights, the kids were finally sleeping, and I spilled the entire cup of wine on my middle legs, I went to the bathroom to try to clean myself, and my entire undies were covered with wine. The only choice I thought of was to try to suck as much liquid with paper towels as possible and take one of those period pads they thankfully have there so at least my lady parts wouldn’t be sitting on my wine undies the entire flight. That is my advice for my future self when traveling with kids. Number 2. advice on this will be to accept I won’t be looking my coolest or my prettiest, so hopefully, taking that worry away makes me look more charming and fun, at least to my most important people, kids, and husband. And therefore, maybe I will look more attractive because a mom that looks happier looks better than a mom who is perhaps all made up but in a bad mood. That’s at least my opinion.
