Thanksgiving is around the corner, and I love to choose my outfit already and know that I would feel amazing while just letting myself enjoy the delicious food my family prepares every year. This blog post is all about Thanksgiving outfit ideas for that thanksgiving diner outfit we are all looking for.
I made a list of thanksgiving outfits that are not so obvious but, in a way, are still festive, classic, and on-trend at the same time. I think that if there is something I like to include in every outfit, no matter the occasion is a cool factor. Sometimes it has edgy boots with a dressy dress or edgy jeans with formal shoes.
So, whether your Thanksgiving dinner is on the dressy, casual, or in-between side, I would love to give you some outfit ideas that would help you look amazing and empower your confidence.
Let’s elevate our thanksgiving outfits this season together, and don’t forget that I would love to know more about you, so at the end of this blog post, please don’t forget to subscribe so I can provide all the outfit ideas and be the first to know about new content on this page.
1 Casually chic Thanksgiving outfit
I know the feeling of seeing all these high-heel outfits on Pinterest or Instagram and feeling like your family’s thanksgiving dinner is not as dressed up, and not wanting to feel out of place but, at the same time, wanting to look amazing.
For starters, when I was traveling in Europe lately, I saw the coolest outfits that didn’t include uncomfortable shoes. I really had an aha!-moment, and flat boots might sound obvious to you, but I want to show details that can make a difference. For example, the boots I saw on this girl who gave me the outfit inspiration were very wide on the ankle, like cowboy vibe but without fully being cowboy looking, like bohemian with edge kind of boots. And this just keeps confirming my theory of going for wide boots that will make your legs look slimmer and longer. Yes, I am all about buying boots for wide legs, although I don’t have wide legs, to get that slim and long leg illusion. I think brands like Free People understand this look, and I am totally trying these booties attached this year. And that of course is just thinking of myself, as I grew up with straight sausage-looking legs.
These boots can look super chic with shorts like the outfit below if it’s more of a family dinner where you don’t want to flash anybody.
High-waisted wide-leg pants are for these kinds of boots. I am absolutely in love with this style. The wide leg situation makes the look the right amount of retro, and being high-waisted has the right amount of sexy for a nice casual dinner.
So here are my closest finds for the boots and outfit references of what I would wear for a very casual Thanksgiving dinner.
2 In between dressed up Thanksgiving outfit
I think something in between dressed up is where I’ve felt the most comfortable in a long time. Like I would love to wear the kind of shoes that have a nice block heel and gives you just enough height to make your legs look longer and fitter. Comfortable shoes are my best friend now that I’m a mom of two kids, and actually, to be honest, after visiting Berlin, I’m leaning toward the more casual side of things. However, I still have a lot of fun putting outfits together that could help you dress accordingly for that sweet Thanksgiving dinner.
I love to mix edge with something shiny and metallic. After all, we do want to look festive and alive. So, I love these outfits that I put together and will totally consider for my own Thanksgiving dinner.
Another way to elevate an outfit that you would normally wear for a casual chic kind of day is to wear chunky earrings that are still on the minimalist side. I am obsessed with these earrings from Etsy. I could wear them in so many styles and occasions, even for a young professional look to the office. They are just the right chunky size, and the simple cool twisty shape makes them so adaptable. The brand has so many takes on them, I would totally take a look at all of their pieces. I have personally worn them with a gold dress, to a casual party, to a cafe meeting, and they always give me that extra spark to my outfit.
3 Dressed up Thanksgiving outfits!
A dressed-up dinner can be super fun because I can add that extra something else while having a cool edge that is unexpected. It is also fun to go more girly on this. Also, I love to go all sophisticated but, again, with a cool factor involved.
A lot of the dresses I chose for this type of Thanksgiving dinner are on the minimalist side, but with the right festive fabric, cool accessories, and effortless hairstyle, it can be a stunning look. I would definitely go for a velvet maxi dress. This below, in particular, has a very quiet but pretty color.
After reading this blog post, I hope you have some ideas for your next Thanksgiving dinner or fall winter event. I love that balance between choosing timeless pieces and looking modern and on-trend. The goal with this post was to find looks that aren’t so typical festive but have that elevated cool feeling/edge.
